2015 Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Keeneland in Lexington KY will be held on Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31, 2015.

About the Breeders’ Cup

breederscupIn Thoroughbred racing, the BreedersCup World Championships is the culmination of the horse racing season worldwide and the $5 million BreedersCup Classic is the defining event of the international racing season. The Breeders’ Cup Classic, run at 1 1/4 miles, draws the top international Thoroughbreds year after year. With its $5 million purse, the Classic is the richest race in all of North America. It is open to horses 3-years-old and older and is limited to 14 starters.  From its inception in 1984 through 2006, it was a single-day event; starting in 2007, it expanded to two days.  The attendance at the Breeders’ Cup ranks fourth or fifth in North America and usually surpasses the attendance of all other stakes races.

Fashion & Celebrities

breederscup2The Breeders’ Cup is an experience all of it’s own with high fashion, celebrities from around the world, great parties, and the world’s best horses.  Don’t miss your chance to see, and be seen with, the VIP crowd as you watch the world’s finest race horses compete on the track.   With two full days of the best races and the best parties, dressing your best each day is a must. Women wear elegant dresses and show off their finest fascinators and stunning hats, and men wear suits or tailored sport coats and a classic fedora. Don’t be upstaged, dress the part and have fun! And remember, “A head without a hat is like a horse without a jockey!”

Keeneland was founded in the early 1930’s by a group of prominent Thoroughbred breeders who came together with the goal of creating, as outlined in the original prospectus, “a model race track to perpetuate and improve the sport and to provide a course that is intended to serve as a symbol of the fine traditions of Thoroughbred racing.”  Keeneland is unique in that it plays an important role in both Thoroughbred racing and breeding today.
